September Reading (The Four Agreements)!

For the first month of my 12 month book reading challenge (1 book a month) I will be reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Very affordable, and appears to be a short and easy read. I will report my thoughts on the book at the end of the month. Feel free to read with me! Let me know what you all think as you journey through the text!

UPDATE:

My thoughts on The Four Agreements:

Length of Book: 153 pages (A fairly quick and easy read)

The 4 Agreements. If I had to describe it in 3 word or less it would be refreshing, yet stimulating. The Four Agreements forces you to truly look within and assess your actions and thoughts on a daily basis. While at the same time, it reminds you that it’s okay to flub up every now and then. The reader is reminded to not be so hard on herself but instead, upon breaking one of the four agreements simply start again. The book is about trying, and not perfection-which is partially the reason it is such a pleasant read.

The Four Agreements are as follows:
1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
3. Don’t Make Assumptions
4. Always Do Your Best

On surface level these appear simple and easily achieved. On the contrary, they are not. The text elaborates on the importance of each and goes into much detail about the benefit each agreement has on your life. Ruiz does a great job at breaking down each agreement and allowing you to reflect upon self while indulging in the text.

A lot of the information shared wasn’t surprising, as I have been on a path of enlightenment for a while now. However, there was plenty to read that was both eye-opening and a friendly reminder-hence, the reason I described the book as refreshing.

Who would I recommend this book to: This is a great book for anyone really. If you are on a journey toward self-love, this is your book. If you have been practicing self love for decades, this book is for you also. The beauty of The 4 Agreements is that it possesses a gem for all, regardless of where you are in life.

I hope this book brings a smile to your face and adds value to your life as it has done for me.
